We are living in unprecedented times and are now in lockdown for three weeks. Given the pressures on the supply chain, albeit different for the on- and off-trade, we think it would be wrong to ask the industry to divert their attention to entering the IWC Merchant Awards this year, so we have decided to postpone the IWC Merchant entry which will now re-open in 2021.
The IWC UK Merchant Awards is a much-loved annual competition for all sectors of the wine industry to recognise the most successful small and large businesses, who deliver an outstanding service to wine consumers across the UK. If the outbreak continues to escalate as the Government is predicting, we will not be able to deliver the great event the winning entrants look forward to in July.
We will be conducting a review of the IWC UK Merchant Awards entry categories before the entry re-opens to ensure they are truly reflective of the situation which sees all areas of the UK hospitality and retailing sectors adapting and navigating through these un-precedented times.
IWC UK Merchant Awards will return in 2021, and as in the last 30 years, the awards will recognise the teams behind companies’ leading innovation and success in each sector of UK Wine retailing, delivering a celebration for our industry well worth the wait.
